Back-to-school season is in full swing, and parents and students both are getting ready for the big day. And now that school supplies are bought and the outfits and backpacks are ready, it’s time to get the cameras ready to capture the special occasion of heading back for the new and exciting upcoming school year.

Back-to-School Photos are becoming increasingly popular—and with good reason! If you’ve never thought about having back-to-school photos taken of your child(ren), here are 5 reasons why you should do so!

1. It helps get children excited about going back to school. After a hopefully fun and restful summer, preparing for back-to-school photos can be just what kids need to get mentally prepared and excited about the upcoming school year.

2. The session documents a milestone and freezes time at this point in their lives. When you take these photos each year, it’s easy to see how our children change year over year—and they do grow quickly!

3. They are more creative than the standard school photo. The photos taken are school during the year are nice and most provide a good headshot of your child during the year, but taking photos outside of the actual school setting allows for more creativity and a variety of photos.

4. Your family will love receiving these milestone photo prints. Photos taken at the beginning of the school year are a happy surprise to a lot of people. Your family members will love receiving them and will cherish them for years to come.

5. Your children will love having these photos in their memory books. Let’s just be honest—the back-to-school photos are simply adorable! I love to incorporate some classic school props (like an apple and this vintage school desk) in my photos, but the creative possibilities are endless. As your children grow, it will always be nice and look at these precious moments over the years.
